May 8 Prayer

Regions/UUPGs: Thank You, God, for Libyan Christians who find themselves living in Tunisia for various reasons. Free them from fear and make them bold witnesses among Libyans and Tunisians they see in their neighborhoods and workplaces.

Petition from a Tunisian Believer: I have been a Christian for two years. Though I had been curious about Christ for a while, I made the decision to follow Him when my grandmother died and I realized I wasn’t ready to die. Pray for my mom and siblings. I’ve shared the Gospel with them and even read Scripture to them. Pray their hearts would be softened and that they would also put their faith in Christ.

Pray Hebrews 11 for Tunisia: “And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of… Barak…” (Hebrews 11:32-35a) Though Barak stumbled with fear, he still led 10,000 people to victory and freedom for the people of God. We pray for godly Tunisian leaders to be used by God, despite their weaknesses, to free others from the bondage of sin.

Petition Against Spiritual Barriers: Satan enters through many doors. Many believers report experiencing deep physical tiredness, headaches, and sleeplessness that they can’t explain. They also speak of spiritual tiredness. Though they have stood firm through persecution, they feel stuck and unable to grow. Pray that God will help these believers step into freedom and a new life and that, just like the church in Ephesus, these believers will return to their first love. “I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.” (Revelation 2:2-4)

Praise the One True God: The LORD alone is Ruler. All of Your enemies, including death itself, are under the feet of the reigning Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:24-28) “Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. For “God[a] has put all things in subjection under his feet.” But when it says, “all things are put in subjection,” it is plain that he is excepted who put all things in subjection under him. When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to him who put all things in subjection under him, that God may be all in all.”
