May 11 Prayer

Regions/UUPGs: Thank You, Father, for the Amazigh of Tataouine! We pray for the Amazigh man who got a hold of two copies of the Bible — one for himself and one for him to share. Please stir hunger in him this Ramadan to read Your word and to talk about it with others.

Petition from a Tunisian Believer: I have been a Christian for many years and have experienced a lot of suffering in my life. Pray that I would be strengthened with power through God’s Spirit in my inner being (Eph 3:17). Pray that I and my husband (who is also a Christian) would have the eyes of our hearts enlightened that we may know what is the hope to which he called us (Eph 1:18).

Pray Hebrews 11 for Tunisia: “They went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated— of whom the world was not worthy—wandering about in deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.” (Hebrews 11:37-38) Thank you for our many brothers and sisters in Tunisia — of whom the world is not worthy. Protect them from the evil one and preserve their faith. May every persecution only strengthen their resolve and demonstrate the treasure of Christ.

Petition Against Spiritual Barriers: Many Tunisian Muslims believe that spirits called “jinn” live in their homes and protect them. They sometimes throw bits of meat with blood into the corners of the rooms as an offering to these jinns who live with them. Some of these practices are similar to animistic practices in Sub-saharan Africa. Pray that Tunisians will know the True God, who will be their Protector. “Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.” Ps. 62:8 Pray that new believers will give God their fears and that He would give them peace.

Praise the One True God: The LORD alone is Revealer. In relation to the heavens, the earth, and all the nations, You speak the truth. (Isaiah 45:19) “I did not speak in secret, in a land of darkness; I did not say to the offspring of Jacob, ‘Seek me in vain.’I the Lord speak the truth; I declare what is right.”
